SPANISH COPES
|
|
EdITS now has a preliminary Spanish version of the COPES values survey. Initial analysis for the norm database is very encouraging and shows that the scales of the Spanish COPES are valid. The COPES measures values as they relate to the 14 COPSystem Career Clusters. The scales measured are shown in Figure 3 (on the right). The new norm sample for the Spanish COPES consists of 1,195 participants with a fairly even distribution of males (585) and females (588), and of this group, 22 individuals did not report gender. The students ranged in grade level from 6th to 12th with a median of 9th grade. The results show very similar means and standard deviations to the English version of the COPES and reliabilities for the COPES scales ranged from .49 to .68 with a median of .55. There were no significant gender differences. Now that this preliminary data has been collected we are collecting new norms for the Spanish COPES. Please see “Research Opportunities” . A new Self-Interpretation Profile and Guide has been developed that is based on the new norm sample to assist individuals in the interpretation of their scores. Like the English version, the Spanish COPES is an useful measure of work environment preferences and can be used for career counseling in schools or business and industry. |
