Examinee Help – FAQs

Account Creation/Registration

Question: How do I sign up to take COPSystem 3C assessments?

Answer: Most examinees will be invited to join the COPSystem by a counselor. As an examinee, you may be given a set of instructions entitled “Instructions for COPSystem 3C Examinee Account Creation” that contains directions, as well as your counselor’s unique registration link. Or your counselor may choose to send an email with a link to the appropriate registration form.

Here a few things to remember:

  • Use the link provided to navigate to the registration form and fill out the necessary information. We take privacy seriously and do not share your personal information with anyone. Feel free to view our privacy policy.
  • Once you have successfully registered for an examinee account, using either the registration link or code that your counselor provided, you will automatically be assigned assessments. If you do not see any assessments after registering, please contact the administrator who invited you.
Question: I have not been invited by a counselor. May I still take the COPSystem assessments?

Answer: Yes. It is now possible to take the COPSystem 3C on your own to help you identify new career opportunities using a unique career profile based on your interests, values, and abilities.

Check out whether the COPSystem is right for you and get started on a better career today.

Taking Assessments

Question: How long does it take to complete the assessments?

Answer: The time required to complete and score each assessment varies:

  1. The Career Occupational Preference System Interest Inventory (COPS) takes about 30 minutes for most examinees to complete. Reading level and ability to focus on tasks for an extended period of time are the primary factors that determine how long it will take to finish. Please remember that you may return to the COPS at any time until all items are answered.
  2. The Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS) is an ability battery that consists of eight 5-minute sections. Including reading the instructions for each test and actual testing time, it will take about an hour to complete this battery. Once you leave a section that has been started you will not be allowed to return to that section. However, you may stop between tests and return to the next one at any time.
  3. The Career Orientation Placement and Evaluation Survey (COPES) takes about 30 minutes. Reading level and ability to focus for an extended period of time will determine whether it takes longer to finish this assessment. You may return to the COPES at any time until all items are answered.
Question: What happens if I have trouble while taking my assessments?

Answer: If you have technical questions about the COPSystem 3C please contact our technical support staff at online@edits.net or 800-416-1666.

Viewing Assessment Results

Please keep in mind that it is only possible to view the results for finished and scored assessments. To complete the COPS and/or the COPES, you must answer every question and navigate to the end of the inventory. You may verify that you have completed a specific assessment by signing in to your examinee account. Your progress is detailed on the Examinee Welcome screen (e.g., New, Started, Scored).

Question: I have completed an assessment, but I am still unable to view my results, what should I do?

Answer: With some browsers it may be necessary to refresh your results page in order to load the new results information. To do this, press the “F5” key on your keyboard, or click on the “refresh/reload” icon in your browser’s navigation bar. This may differ slightly depending on the browser you are using. Also, some counselors choose not to display results until they can discuss them with you. If this is the case, a message will be displayed telling you to contact your administrator.
